Newest rap sensation from Prairie View

DeMarcus Hamilton, also known as Bone, is a rising star. Currently signed with Def Jam records, Bone’s hit “Homegurl” has everyone dancing.

The senior history major is taking part in the Prairie View music movement along with Dorrough, Supastarr, DJ Mr. Rogers, and the Party Boys with his song that’s getting major notarization and support from the campus.

After receiving a Fisher-Price Karaoke machine and rapping to LL Cool J’s “Around the Way Girl,” the fire for Bone’s music desire was sparked.

After surviving a legal dispute with his former employer, he triumphantly managed to seal a record deal with Def Jam Records, after major publicity from multiple DJs which landed him an audition for music mogul L.A. Reid in New York and a record deal the same day.

The hit “Homegurl” came about after Bone heard DJ Mr. Rogers play a popular Louisiana song “That’s my Juvie” at a party. He later decided to sample it.

“It is important to have knowledge of what goes on in the music industry and to have a good team of people behind you for guidance,” said Bone.
