For those who missed it…The grammys that is

Brief on speeches and awards, and long on glitzy performances by the stars, the 52nd annual Grammy Awards was definitely far from boring. With full scale orchestras, dance numbers, and military acts the performers made their performances as convivial as possible.

Who better to open the Grammys with a bang than pop diva Lady Gaga. Gaga opened her act with a troupe of construction workers, and she wore a sequin green leotard with the very broad shoulder pads. Just to add some spice to her outfit she had pink glittered triangles over her eyes. Gaga started her performance with “Poker Face,” and ended in a duet with Elton John at a piano opposite of her singing “Speechless” and “Your Song” melded together, staring at the audience through their matching glittered sunglass lenses. Gaga’s performance was very dramatic and what everyone expected.

Although Gaga’s performance was over-the-top theatrical and entertaining, nothing could compare to the tribute for the “King of Pop,” Michael Jackson. Producer Ken Ehrlich kept Michael’s wishes in mind when planning the tribute. Ken explained, “The people that we picked to perform this 3D version of ‘Earth Song’ are the people that I really feel Michael would have wanted to be there. Everyone was asked to put on their 3D glasses while Celine Dion, Carrie Underwood, Usher Raymond, Smokey Robinson, and Jennifer Hudson graced the stage with a magnificent performance of “‘Earth Song.'”

Pink’s performance had a jaw-dropping provocative Grammy Awards performance. Starting her next number of “Glitter in the Air” in a white hooded dress and ended it having stripped to a nude bodysuit with a patch of glitter and some white strips, dunked in a tub of water. This stunning performance by Pink at the Grammy Awards made her capture the show. Her voice was unbelievable, and her performance was complete, with some simple, yet flawless acrobatics in the air. She held on with one leg as water poured all over her while maintaining the beautiful tone of her voice, and never missing a beat. After the completion of her performance, Pink got a deserving round of thunderous applause and a standing ovation from the audience.

As Beyonce came marching into the Staples Arena with her entourage of militant soldiers, viewers’ perception of Beyonce in a leotard and high heels with a performance of “Single Ladies” went out the window. However, Beyonce changed her style wearing a futuristic, spiked black outfit and matching shoes. She decided to put a twist on her performance of “If I Were a Boy” by adding Alanis Morissette’s classic song “You Oughta Know.” Some may consider it a bit boring and others may have loved it, but truth is it’s Beyonce.

There were many great performances the night of the Grammys. Performers made this the biggest night in music with over 26 million views a great treat.
