Annual parade boosts homecoming spirits

The highly anticipated Parade of Champions took place Saturday, Nov. 4, in front of the Memorial Student Center.

University Drive was cheerfully decorated, with bright colors and elements to intensify the Homecoming atmosphere. The parade featured a wide variety of organizations and acts, each bringing something different and unique to the event. The parade featured representatives from the ROTC, Army, Marines, fire department, the track and field team, Shadydale drum line, Yates High School, Worthing High School, and the PVAMU marching band. There were appearances by the royal court, Mr. and Miss NAACP, Miss Black Teen USA, Miss Eta Beta, Miss Tau Beta Sigma, and Mr. and Miss PVAMU.”I enjoyed the parade. It was really nice, there were so many different acts in the parade and lots of nice cars. You can tell that all the organizations worked really hard on their floats,” said freshman Mia Williams.

George Hicks, a proud Prairie View alumnus from the class of 1956, said, “The parade was very good. I am so proud of this university and the way that it has progressed over the years. The Parade of Champions was definitely an event to remember and cherish.
