Prairie View remains positive on outlook of season despite loss

The Panthers of Prairie View A&M University faced off against the Javelinas of Texas A&M Kingsville. Kingsville came in with a record of 2-2 while the Panthers came in with an impressive 8-2 record. At the start of the game both teams’ pitching staff showed great skill by keeping batters of the bases or looking with phenomenal fastballs. In the third inning Kingsville got their first hit of the game with a single that landed Ariki on first base. This base hit would not get the Javelinas any runs. Through the third inning Prairie View was hitless against some great pitching of A&M Kingsville. In the fourth inning things began to look up as the Panther’s George McDonald singled into center field.

The Panthers struggled to pull out any runs in the fourth and fifth innings. The Javelinas were also unsuccessful in scoring any runs. The action began to pick up in the eighth inning when Kingsville scored three runs with the help of some errors by the Panther infield.

The Panthers failed to get hits and runs in the following innings, ended the game scoreless against a seemingly flawless pitching performance of A&M Kingsville, and lost 3-0. The Panthers put in a valiant effort but were stifled by a solid pitching core.

The Panthers record drops to 8-3 in a tough loss to Texas A&M Kingsville.
