PV earns 2nd place

 

HUMBLE, Texas – The Prairie View A&M women’s track team placed second at the Shirley Crowe Invitational held at Turner Stadium in Humble, TX. Three members of the women’s track team earned first place finishes as they placed second overall and finished only eight points behind the University of Houston.

Freshman Sylvonna Thompson won the 400-meter hurdles after running 1:03.10 while Andrea Chambers won the hammer throw with a length of 44.02 meters. Myesha Dixon rounded out the first-place performers after winning the javelin throw with a mark of 33.64 meters.

Corinna Brown had a strong weekend as she placed second in the 400-meter hurdles (1:05.84), high jump (1.6 meters) and triple jump (11.45 meters). Ariane Jordan placed third in the 100-meter dash (11.94) while Chambers also finished second in the shot put (13.01 meters). Myesha Rice and Ashley Johnson closed out the meet for the Lady Panthers as they placed 2-3 in the discus.

Both teams return to action on Thursday as they’ll participate in the annual Texas Relays in Austin, Texas on the campus of the University of Texas.
