As we all know, our holiday break is right around the corner, and students are getting about a month off from classes.Students live here on campus and are planning to go away to their hometowns for the holiday break. Some of us bring many of our valuables with us tocampus and do not want to take them home with us every time we go.
Security has improved a lot this past year and many students are wondering if that same care and interest that the security officers show will still be here when we are gone for the holidays.
Numerous officers on campus have confirmed that they will be here to see that the safety of the campus is well taken care of.
“I don’t want my stuff to get stolen when I go home,” says junior Aisha Edwards, “It makes me feel better to know the police will be driving around the campus during the break.”
Last year, there was more than 25% of the campus vandalized and destroyed, not only in the Village and University College, but also at various buildings around campus.
Students who lived in the Village came back to school from the holidays to find that their room doors had been kicked down, and many of their personal as well as their valuable items stolen from their rooms. It is the university that has to pay for the damages that the culprits have done to our campus.
“Hopefully this year the police will do a better job to make sure nothing happens,” said Edwards.
