Houston Texans

I know this is the last issue so I thought I should talk about the surprise team of the upcoming NFL season, the Houston Texans! You’re probably thinking to yourself that this guy is a joke, but just let me tell you why this is true.

The Texans are have the strongest strength of schedule in the National Football League which include: Indianapolis Colts, Washington Redskins, Dallas Cowboys, Oakland Raiders, New York Giants, Kansas City Chiefs, San Diego Chargers, Jacksonville Jaguars, New York Jets, Tennessee Titans, Philadelphia Eagles, Baltimore Eagles, and the Denver Broncos. If the Texans make it out of that loaded schedule with 10 or more wins they will be one of the favorites going into the playoffs.

Making it to the playoffs would be a great accomplishment for the Texans, but they don’t want the ride to stop there. Last season the Texans had the number four passing offense in the league and now with second day pick out of Auburn, Ben Tate, the Texans running game will only improve.

For the first time in the recent draft the Texans didn’t need to have all of their picks become starters in their first year. The only player out of nine who was drafted is Kareem Jackson of the National Champions, Alabama Crimson Tide. Tate will compete with third year pro Steve Slaton and their third round pick, Earl Mitchell, from North Shore High School in Houston, Texas will be a situation pass rusher. Quarterback Matt Schaub is coming off of having the number one passer rating in the league, not to mention the best wide receiver in the NFL in Andre Johnson. Mario Williams, DeMeco Ryans and rookie Brian Cushing, who was in the top five in the league in tackles a season ago, lead a Texans defense that was 10th in the league after a rough start.

In my opinion the Texans have all the key components to make a deep run in the playoffs and take a trip to the Super Bowl.
