“Im gonna live forever

It all begins with a dream but who will work the hardest to fulfill that dream? This 1980 film remake is based on selected students of New York City High School for Performing Arts.

Students of many different talents come together to showcase and improve their talents with other talented students their age. They all have hopes of becoming professional actors, singers, dancers, producers, and etc.

Throughout their high school years, the students form close bonds with classmates and instructors to bring out their inner selves, and their skills that might not have been displayed to the fullest potential are improved.

Once they accomplish all of that and use it in the classroom, some of them shine in ways within their talent that they previously did not know how to express or maybe even were not allowed to express.

Jenny Garrison (Kay Parabaker) comes into school to display her acting skills, and she has to learn how to open up her mind, and use the gift that is given to her to compete with her classmates now that she is at a different level.

Will she overcome the struggle and be able to show everyone what she is capable of?

Malik Washburn (Collins Pennie) is an aspiring producer, actor, and rapper. He risks defying anyone trying to stop him on his path to success. Malik learns that in order to have a future he must be able to accept his past. Can he really look past that and grow into the person he needs to be to become successful?

Victor Taveras (Walter Perez) works hand in hand with Malik producing music. He needs to look at school from another viewpoint or he may not make it to senior year.

Denise Dupree (Naturi Naughton) has been confined to performing only by the advisement of her father. Now she has a new way of displaying her talent, but will it be approved or turned down? Will she be strong enough to go with her heart and no longer by others’ request?

Marco (Asher Booker) is a great singer. His talents are obvious in the classroom and with his assistance, anyone could grow into a better performer.

Alice Ellerton (Kherington Payne) has been dancing for some time now, and she is really shining in the classroom. When the opportunity presents itself, will she take a chance and go for her dreams or will she wait around for another opportunity at “fame?”

Some students have to work harder to compete with their classmates, but can they all realize that every moment in the classroom is really a competition for that spot into “fame?”

Is the fact that everyone may not reach that bar to “fame” ever taken into consideration? If not, do they know what may have to be done to redirect their dreams?

As the students of New York City High School of Performing Arts grow, they understand they must take chances at all cost!

“Dream It, Earn It, Live It,” are the only things they can rely on. Sometimes that means leaving friends and loved ones who stood by them throughout the entire journey, letting down a close minded father to show him talent can be expressed in more than just one way, starting at the bottom to reach the top, standing up for one’s self, and continuing when there is no family motivation or support, or just accepting that “fame” is not for everyone.

Graduation is soon approaching for these students, but who will walk away with the proper skills to be a part of the big “FAME?
