Students from all classifications along with hundreds of people from the Prairie View community woke early Saturday morning to take part in the homecoming parade on Oct. 17.
“The parade was exciting,” said freshman education major Erica Seymore. “It was my freshman homecoming, and so it was quite exciting as a student.”
Other reasons for enjoying the parade included the bands, horses, dancers and floats.
“My favorite part of the parade was the LULAC float,” said freshman chemistry major Joana Cisnuros.
The school came together to show how different and yet united it is this week. Although it is an HBCU, PVAMU is not just based on being black, but on culture and what makes us all alike: education.
“One thing I will take from today is how diverse it is here,” Cisnuros commented. “I saw a lot of different clubs.”
Overall, the parade gave even nonparticipants the opportunity to show school spirit and inadvertently allowed them to participate in making the entire week successful.
“This experience has helped me to understand a lot about black history and the history of the school,” Seymore said. “I wear PV shirts every week. I love purple and gold.”
