Why are people always hating on The Band?To the person, or persons, who wrote in last week’s paper that the step-off was a conspiracy, GET OVER IT!!! The step-off is over and there is no changing it. C Phi C won off of their skills and that alone.
How can you say that they cheated? Not one person on the judging panel has ever been KK Psi or Tau Beta Sigma, so there is no favoritism towards C Phi C. Since you want to talk about cheating though, then we can talk about one building that I will leave anonymous. To keep it anonymous we will call it building 63. From what I learned, their whole step show was made up by another organization, which we will call “the doves” to keep them anonymous. The CAs and LCM who stay in building 63 are all part of “the doves.” When I stayed in this building last year the LCM got upset that the steppers for building 63 did not want “the doves'” help. So while C Phi C has no help from any organization, even KK Psi, they still continue to win.
The reason people may have noticed that C Phi C performed a few steps that building 63 did is because the person that taught them used to be in C Phi C in 2002 and just crossed “the doves” this year. I have seen the tape from ’02 and it is basically the exact same show that was done, with a few additions. If you notice, every year C Phi C performs a few traditional steps that show up in every show. I’m not saying that building 63 cheated because they probably didn’t even know that the show they learned had already been performed, but the people in “the doves” who helped them knew because they did the show in ’02 for C Phi C themselves.
You can complain about them seeing the steps from their buildings all you want but they stay there. If you don’t want anybody to see your show before the step show, then don’t have it out in the open. In all honesty, last year, if you really wanted to, you could see my building’s entire step show just by sitting outside the building and looking in. The only reason C Phi C stops and looks at their building’s step is to see what their competition is. By the time all the other buildings get their step show together C Phi C has already finished theirs and are just perfecting it because they have been practicing longer than any other building. If you want to know the truth of why C Phi C wins every year then it is very simple. They win because of the same reason that the band is considered “the best in the land”: HIGH INTENSE ENERGY PEOPLE!
You have to realize that C Phi C is conditioned to perform for shows every year because they have been in the band all year. They can go out there and give it their all because they are used to it. Not to mention that ripples are a big part of step shows and that’s all the band ever does. So in all honesty, no building out there should be able to do ripples or step better than C Phi C. Also, look at KK Psi. They win every step show they enter plus they just won BET’s Spring Bling in Miami. Does that mean KK Psi’s winning all the time is a conspiracy too? I mean KK Psi has members that are part of other organizations too. If people still think that it is a conspiracy for C Phi C to win then they might as well put it in the history books between the assassination of JFK and the Roswell conspiracy.
The Marching Storm is “the best in the land” so it makes sense that C Phi C would be too until some building finally comes along and proves it wrong. Until then, get a life and get over it because while you stay up worrying about it and how you think you should have won, C Phi C is sleeping peacefully in their beds with $200 each in their pockets knowing that the 2006 Dorm Step-Off trophy is safely in the band office.
