Cross country teams run for SWAC championship

The Prairie View A&M men’s and women’s cross country teams wrapped up their seasons at the SWAC championships. The SWAC Cross Country Championships were held on Oct. 26 in the Highland Road Community in Baton Rouge, La. The Lady Panthers finished fifth with 136 points and the men’s team finished sixth with 132 points.

For the Lady Panthers, Angel Brooks had the team’s highest finish, placing 21st with a time of 21:23.49. Teammate Guadalupe Bustamente finished in 21.44.72, good for 25th. Branee Robinson finished right behind her teammate with a time of 21:46.54. Whitley Dobbins finished in 22:21.32 for 31st and Leticia Bustamante finished 33rd in a time of 22:36.22. Corinna Brown completed the race in 22:51.69 for 39th. Terrecia Moody finished in 23:03.37, placing her 44th and Jelissa Phillips placed 56th in a time of 24:38.29.The Lady Panthers had an average completion time of 21:58.46.

On the men’s side, the highest finisher was Jodale Burkley with a time of 28:19.91, good for 26th. Finishing two spots back at 28th was Errol Hampton in a time of 28:31.46. Adrain Davis finished 30th in 29:06.40. At 32nd was Patrick Range in a time of 29:34.75, Juan Morales finished at 37th at a time of 29:56.58 and Michael White at 42nd in a time of 31:13.23. The Panthers average finish time was 28:33.07.
