Faculty discuss Freshman Academic Profile Test

Faculty of Prairie View A&M University gathered Thursday, April 17, for their third annual faculty assembly sponsored by the faculty senate. The purpose of the meeting was to provide “an interactive forum between faculty and faculty senate,” stated Senator Evelyn Thornton, who heads the senate. The meeting also dealt with academic and student affairs.

The Freshman Academic Profile Test (FAPT) was one of the main topics of discussion. The FAPT is an idea that was proposed by the faculty senate as a way to determine the academic level of a student. If the test gets approved it could be administered to all freshmen in a survey format. If a student takes the test the results could help in the student’s academic career in the future.
