“1876” makes second appearance

During the spring semester, Sheleah Reed, executive director of communications, developed the idea to create a magazine for Prairie View alumni, titled “1876,” the university’s date of establishment.

The magazine, which comes out every March and October, is to help the alumni, faculty and supporters feel connected with the happenings of Prairie View.

This October will be the magazine’s second issue as its debut was this past March and it will highlight different topics, including the 25th Mr. Prairie View and the 135th anniversary of the university.

Reed said, “The upcoming issues have some great story ideas and the cover story is going to be a good one that people will like.”

Not a stranger to the communication field, Reed wants every issue to be unique and to improve each time.

Reed said, “It is a lot of work. I would like it to cone out every month, but I cannot make that happen. If people want to help they can, but most of the help comes from my interns.”
