Gospel fest begins homecoming week

PVAMU’s homecoming festivities kicked off with the Gospel Fest Sunday in the MSC auditorium.

The show started with an opening song from hosts Nickolas Halloman and Alexis Robinson-White.

The University College choir performed the first act which was well received by the audience.

Brandy Stringer, a freshman business management major and member of the UC choir, said: “The gospel fest was an enlightening experience. The spirit of the Lord was shown through every tongue, giving Him the praise He deserves. I feel bad for the people that didn’t show up.”

The show proceeded with performances by PV Mime, who received a standing ovation.

The show also included performances by the Baptist Student Movement choir.

The UC choir continued to show off its musical blessings with beautiful songs and amazing solos from its lead singers.

Featured band Eric Moore and Resonate then took the audience by storm for the remainder of the show.

Freshman electrical engineer major Ashlee Sherman said: “Their style of gospel music was new to me. However, I enjoyed it a lot. I embraced their lyrics and used it to help strengthen my relationship with God. The gospel concert enlightened my soul and engaged me in hope to overcome my tribulations. As a freshman, this was my first time attending the gospel fest at Prairie View, but it certainly won’t be my last.”

After prayer, a large group of people from the audience went to the stage for a deliverance prayer led by Moore. Afterward, Moore and his band continued to entertain the crowd with songs and instrumentals.
