For the past few years the SIFE team at Prairie View A&M University engages in project focusing on environmental sustainability to improve the quality of life in the community.
The project was also eligible for a Sam’s Club Environmental Sustainability Challenge grant from SIFE, which included entrepreneurial ventures.
Realizing the need for economic development in the City of Prairie View A&M University, the team identified Papa Leo’s Restaurant as its small business for assistance.
In October 2010, the team applied and received a $1,000 for its project with Papa Leo’s, which incidentally was also a current Sam’s Club Member.
The idea to work with Papa Leo’s began with a conversation with David Brown, SIFE’s Communications and Project Director, Brittany Stinson and members of the student chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA), which was developing a new marketing plan to enhance the image of Papa Leo’s as part of its outreach in the community.
