The Star Spangled Banner is a representation of American pride and spirit before every major or minor league game. Sunday at Super Bowl 45, Christina Aguilera had the opportunity to sing the infamous medley in front of 100 million fans across the nation. Unfortunately, the pop star forgot the lyrics on national television.
Aguilera tried to recover from the mistake of missing words, by creatively adding her own. She sang confidently, “What so proudly we watched at the twilights last gleaming.” The proper lyrics were supposed to be, “O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming.” Normally, after forgetting lyrics crowds tend to boo away the artist, but due to her incredible talent to sing with much soul, she was still embraced by fans. Luckily, Aguilera has been given another opportunity to prove her consistency while performing. The Brooklyn Cyclones, a minor league baseball team in Brooklyn, NY., has invited Aguilera to redeem herself at their upcoming game.
Also, the 53 annual Grammy’s known for highlighting today’s hottest talent has enlisted Aguilera as an opening act. They have given her a chance to shine her vocal abilities yet again. She will be performing with Jennifer Hudson, and other unidentified artists in a tribute to Aretha Franklin.
To hear the pop soul singer redeem herself, be sure to tune in this Sunday to the Grammy’s on CBS at 10 p.m. It will be aired at the Los Angeles, Calif. Staples Center.
