Panthers earn second place in Lady Tiger Classic

The PVAMU Panthers Bowling Team continues to “Roll To Success.” The Lady Panthers finished in second place in this weekend’s TSU Le-Tiger Classic bowling tournament held in Houston last Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Palace Lanes. Finishing in first place was LA Tech University with TSU finishing third and Grambling State finishing fourth.

Although finishing second overall the Lady Panthers placed four members on the six member All-Tournament team. Included on that team was sophomore Cynthia Veney, junior LeJewelia Lewis, freshman Shanice Brown (also tied for 2nd place high series with 532 pins) and transfer junior from Venezuela Alejandra Castillo. Castillo not only tied for 2nd place high series with Brown but also had the tournament high game of 255 and was the team MVP for the tournament.

In the final day of competition the Lady Panthers started rolling well with 955 pins to 746 pins win over Grambling and a 903 pins to 807 pins win over TSU in the team format.

The Panthers finished the tournament losing to LA Tech in the final position round best 4 of 7 baker format four games to one finishing with an overall record for the tournament of seven wins and six losses.
