However, there are many students who don’t take pride in their vehicles. Taking pride in your vehicle consists of making sure your vehicle is up to date on its maintenance. Maintaining your vehicle is very important. Doing this assures and helps you to get the best performance out of your vehicle.
Vehicle maintenance consists of several components First, one must change his/her oil every three thousand miles or three months. Also it’s important to make sure you have a reasonable amount of oil in your car, to prevent the transmission from “locking-up.”
Usually, if you pay anywhere from $15.00 to $20.00 for an oil change, the mechanic will change your oil filer and check your air filter as well. Changing you air filter periodically will ensure clean, purified air conditioning.
There are also other maintenance issues that are essential for a safe and dependable ride. Making sure your tires are in good condition reduces your chance of having a flat. Junior Melissa Davis says, “I always make sure my car is running properly before I decide to travel back home. I always make sure my tires aren’t going flat and I also make sure my oil has been changed before I get on the road. If these two things aren’t in good condition I stay at school because I don’t want to be stranded on the side of the road.”
Although many students feel that it’s their parents’ responsibility to maintain their cars, it’s not. If you treat the automobile right and take care of it, it will take care of you. However, if you do not take care of your vehicle the way you should, it will die on you.
If you are the primary driver of your vehicle it is your responsibility to take care of the vehicle. Have the required maintenance issues taken care of on the scheduled dates. Some maintenance issues could become very costly if they aren’t taken care of at the time needed. Having a vehicle is very convenient, but it is also a privilege, and owning one is a very big responsibility.
