In mid-September the office of recruitment premiered Prairie View A&M University’s virtual tour.
This great use of technology gives individuals an opportunity to preview Prairie View’s historical landmarks and stay up to date with the latest additions.
Paige, the virtual tour guide, starts by welcoming viewers to PVAMU, and gives a brief history of the campus.
She says, “We can’t show you the entire campus, but we hope that this virtual tour leads you to check out the beautiful campus in person.”
A virtual path guides the tourist through the campus while the voice of Ayana Mack, a 2003 PV communication graduate and local radio personality, gives historical information about the landmarks around campus.
Virtual tourists will be informed of majors and degree plans offered in each academic building upon completion of the virtual tour.
The current version of the tour is only a preview of what is to come.
Sophomore music major Aarinna Longino says, “It’s a great way to present the campus, although I do believe there is room for improvement.”
The 2013 version of the tour will include many enhancements and more areas of the campus.
The new entrance and pond, recreation center, and graduate dorms will be showcased in the later version.
It will also be available as a mobile application and in Spanish.
Alumnus Tony Young says, “This is a great way to showcase what the campus has to offer to prospective students that are unable to visit. It is also a great step forward for the future of Prairie View and the recruitment office. “
The office of recruitment has created yet another great marketing tool for the university.
