Abstract:
Is the H to the izzo, V to the izza a Freemason? Many have speculated over the years of his career that Jay-Z has been involved in Freemason activity and that he prescribes to some occultic beliefs. But with this cloud of symbolisms and words, will his fans still follow him? He is one of the most financially successful hip-hop artists and entrepreneurs in America, having a net worth of over $150 million, shipping over 30 million copies of his albums in the United States alone and receiving several Grammy Awards for his musical work....

I'm not persuaded to everything I hear so as long as the beats on his songs are good I might burn it.

Yeah this whole article is ridiculous. It is a very long stretch to say that he is apart of the Illuminati. The hand sign is to represent diamonds not a pyramid. Yeah its the same shape but he has never called it a pyramid. besides the pyramid that is associated with freemasonary is unfinished at the top to signify the continue journey to higher knowledge. The song D'evils have sampling from Snoop Dog and Prodigy of MOBB DEEP. Jay-Z doesnt even say the lines in the song. Thirdly, KRS-One had an album called the blueprint first and nobody seems to accuse of being a Mason. Its laughable at best.

As a graduate of an HBCU - namely Howard, this article disgusts me. How can you as a supposedly educated person even align Freemasonry and Satanism? Secondly, how can you make the absurd assumption that a non-Christian automatically = Satanic? Do you not know your history? Do you not know that many of the ideological founders of black political movements and concepts were freemasons? Do you not know who David Walker is? Marcus Garvey? DuBois? This whole article makes me angry because the correct information is available in libraries and in many Grand Lodges themselves. No one wants to do any real research, just listen to youtube pseudo-scholars with nothing better to do than spread lies about our people, our history, and Freemasonry as a body. Jay-Z is not a freemason. Even if he were, he would not have to keep it a secret. Freemasonry is not a secret society. It is a society with secrets, just like any other fraternal body or governmental body for that matter.
As far as Jay-Z's art is concerned, he aims to be mysterious and draws upon iconography and concepts that have been around forever! It's strange that we think so lowly of our people that we think no one can be successful without submitting to an evil cabal.

Are any of you listening to yourselves? You have twisted the entire meaning of what Jay Z is saying because of your ignorance of "Who You Are". It is apparent that you have no clue as to "Who You Are". Thereby, incapable of understanding Jay-Z's message. This article is entirely presumptious and invalid in majority of it's results. Jesus, was in fact one that attempted to share the equality between he and man, but as a result of the shape of society at the time of the bible, it was completely over-looked, at least the majority of what he said and lived for. In fact, most great teachers, prophets, and Masters were misunderstood. To state who you really are is to be mocked, because you choose to see yourself as "sin" or "worthless" without the labels of society or religion (of which were both man-made. In actuality, there is no "sin" as is described because we were all created with a profound purpose and "choice". Jesus didn't come to "save us from sin" but to proclaim who we already were and to cause for change upon the earth. Sort of like Martin Luther King who started a movement for something that was already. In the beginning, we were already free and slavory was abolished, but it was not recognized. Even until today, we are still growing from that era. So did Jesus have a purpose to start a movement to proclaim what you already. Just a few examples: "When you can see with one eye, then you will be fulfilled", "Do not call anyone your master, neither me, for what I do you can do also; even greater things will you do than what I've done", "Seek ye first the Kingdom of God" - The Kingdom of God is your Mind. "God is a Spirit" as he also states, "Don't worship me, you may worship the Father", "What I do, I do by the one who sent me". God is in our Higher-Conscious and God-Mind. We were created from God (the whole Spirit and Higher Power of Love, Infinite Power, Infinite Ability, Courage, Hope, etc. Hell, we create life as God does, but God is our source of power and were are extensions of that great Spirit (little gods and goddesses). This world is up to us...Well, I guess in 2012 we will all get it if the prophets are right. It won't be the end of the world. But, it will be the end of the way we currently "think" of ourselves because we will have no other way but to alter our way of thinking and being. You weren't born in "sin" because you were created from ABSOLUTE LOVE, HOPE, PEACE, COURAGE, FAITH, ABILITY, ALL KNOWING, ETC. From that, there is no option of "SIN", but choices that yield consequences accordingly. As Jesus said, "So a man thinketh in his heart, so is he", your mind creates the results of your life, via good or bad - it's up to you. And if you don't get it in this life-time, you will eventually get it in another. How about stopping for a moment to "stop telling God you know "him" and ask God (Life, the Creator) to show you TRUTH of itself, which is TRUTH of you." With love, peace, and happiness - I pray you find TRUTH as so many teachers, Jesus, Shakamuni (The original Buddha), Krishna, and others have tried to show us all. Well...in the end, we'll all get it - trust me.

This is aimed at all the naysayers and people who would question the research done in preparation for this article or for the quality of students on Prairie View A&M's campus. We produce productive people. If all you are going to do is complain then I suggest that you do your own research by not being biased. Words are all we have to go by. And it is how we judge everything around us. I am Christian and a proud member of PVAMU, and a staff member of the Panther Newspaper. I did considerable amounts of research for this article and this is the watered down version. Because of space concerns and content which would really anger readers, it was shortened considerably. But I have enough to write a thesis on this subject. My audience for this article are Christians! Which by definition are supposed to know that anything outside of God's word is satanic. Let's let God's ways be before our own and actually consider the extremes on both sides before we are sucked into the vacuum of this world. We might all learn something from each other if we hold fast to him instead of men's opinions and man's ways....which are the ways of death.

now a days it is hard to find good lyricist (few mc's plays with words, analogies, imagery) so putting his beliefs aside he is a talented dude. bcuz i am a fan im very aware of his god/devil references and i feel like in the lyrics of "lucifer" & "D'evils" he has a internal struggle that many christians (believers) face but they think it makes them bad christians to question and push boundries. but the truth is when u question and not blindly follow u read the bible and build a relationship with god. He hasnt came out and confronted these accusations so who knows right??? but the roc hand symbol is a diamond not a triangle (and he did say that)
