More than 40 of America's top companies, government agencies, and graduate schools are set to participate in the 2005 Spring Career Fair at Prairie View A&M University, Feb. 7-9.

The Career Fair is an opportunity for students and alumni seeking employment and internship positions to meet with recruiters.

The job fair will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9 in the Memorial Student Center Ballroom.

Pre-job fair activities include the Employers' Training, Launch a Career, and Class Room Visits and Reception.

Additionally, on Feb. 1, the Career Center will sponsor a "How to Get the Job You Want" seminar.

According to recent reports, there is a new surge of employment opportunities and companies are seeking new employees.

The Prairie View A&M University Job Fair is designed to meet this demand for qualified candidates, to fill professional vacancies and the need for building a diverse workforce reflective of society.

"The future is bright for the graduates and we are encouraged by the companies who continue to seek our Prairie View students," says Glenda Jones, assistant director for co-op and internships at the university.

"This year we have several new companies who heard about our students and wanted to be a part of the Job Fair because the graduates still play an important part in the lives of the companies."

Students are encouraged to bring at least 15 copies of their résumés to the event and should be dressed in business attire.

The Career Center will also conduct various seminars to assist students in preparing for the corporate campus interviews following the career fair.

Some of the seminars include "Interviewing Techniques, Résumé Writing, Professional Dress for Success, Salary Negotiations and Corporate Etiquette."

For more information on the fair, contact the Career Center in 201 Anderson Hall or call 936-857-2055.
