Q. Why are you called J. Stone?

Q. Who inspires you?
A. My musical inspirations are Donnie Hathaway, Luther Vandross, Freddie Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Gerald Levert and Marvin Gaye.
Q. Who's your favorite artist?
A. As of right now my favorite artist is John Legend. I feel like I can relate to a lot of his music because like myself he writes about life experiences, but at the same time makes it something people can enjoy.
Q. Have you ever performed professionally?
A. I sang the National Anthem for the Astros in May 2002. I competed four times and won at the Apollo in New York. I'm the only two-time winner of the BET College Tour Singer spotlight. I opened up for Ricky Smiley. I hosted the Dirty South Tour featuring Slim Thug, Lil Jon and the Eastside Boys, and the Ying Yang Twins.

A. I've either been in the studio or performed with many people, just to name a few Timbaland; Sara Stokes, and C-Stone, my little brother.
Q. How would you describe your music?
A. I would describe my music as a key to my mind, to my heart, and my soul because a lot of the songs are from personal experiences or from people who are close to me. I feel that by listening to my music you will get to know more about me.
Q. Do you write your own lyrics?
A. Yes, I write every last single song.
Q. When can we expect your CD to be out?
A. April 10-Nationwide. It will be on OnPoint Entertainment.
Q. What song do you like best on your CD?
A. The title track, which is called "Smile," is my favorite. That song to me expresses to the world or the person you're referring to that regardless of any situation after it's all said and done you can still smile.
Q. What is it you want people to take away from your music?
A. I want people to take a piece of me and I want them to take that piece and relate to their own life so they can feel what I'm feeling.
