Club Pees & Vees made its return to Prairie View Saturday, Nov. 11. The event offered students a night of true elegance and entertainment in the Memorial Student Center ballroom.
The attire for the evening was after five attire, or "grown and sexy." The entertainment lined up for the night was Forte' and the Band, Lanya Prince, Jamie Jackson, OuSpokn, and DJ No Tables. With talent like this, SIFE made sure the audience left with a good feeling they would not soon forget. As students entered the ballroom, dim lights, a slide show, and a smooth atmosphere greeted them.
Throughout the evening, Forte' and DJ No Tables would play in 45 minute intervals. As DJ No Tables finished, Forte' did not waste a second getting their show underway. Forte' entertained the crowd through various popular R&B songs, and some original songs. All the while, the crowd was invited to slow dance, and enjoy the entertainment.
Next was Layna Prince, who sang "Because you Love me" by Celine Dion. Immediately following was Jamie Jackson who sang an original piece. Next was Forte' who jumped at the opportunity, and incorporated OuSpokn in their act. Forte' continued to sing and serenade onlookers. Later Layna Price performed " The Wind Beneath My Wings," and Jamie Jackson performed another original piece from her personal collection.
Sophomore Jamie Glenn commented on the event, saying, "It was really, really nice. It's good to have an event that shows how grown and sexy we really are."
While DJ No Tables' second set kicked off, he did not hesitate to take the show up a notch, and before you knew it, he had the entire floor doing the Harlem Shuffle. During his show, he managed to keep the crowd entertained.
Frederick V. Roberts, Sam Walton Fellow, commented by saying, "I am pleased the SIFE students accepted the challenge to change the entertainment life on campus, hoping it would inspire other students to engage in more meaningful forms of entertainment."
