Students in Free Enterprise beat out nearly 400 schools to receive a $500 grant from HSBC Bank to undertake a financial literacy program.

The group will receive the grant in two disbursements. The first disbursement will help jump start the program, and the second will be received upon completion of the program.

SIFE member Andrew Williams said, "Receiving the grant was a great opportunity to reach out to Prairie View and the surrounding school communities." Williams believes the grant will not only help the community, but further the education of everyone dealing with personal finances.

SIFE is built on five pillars: financial literacy, business ethics, success skills, market economics, and entrepreneurship.
SIFE's mission is to provide students the best opportunity to make a difference and develop leadership, teamwork and communication skills through learning, practicing and teaching the principles of free enterprise.

Sam Walton fellow Frederick Roberts said, "It's a milestone achievement for the SIFE team at Prairie View to be the recipient of this grant to help educate their fellow students and young people in the community of the importance of good money management."
