Panther bowler Dawson named conference freshman of the year

Prairie View A&M University bowler Misty Dawson was named the Southwestern Athletic Conference freshman of the year and to the first team All-SWAC.
A graduate of Hastings High School in Houston, Dawson averaged 203.81 pins in over 27 matches. On Nov. 4 in the East SWAC Round-up in Baton Rouge, La. she bowled 10 strikes in a row en route to a score of 288.
Against Southern, then ranked 12th nationally, she bowled 265 in the SWAC West Round-up on Jan. 27 and on the 28th against Jackson State she bowled 245.
"Misty has done a great job in developing into a leader for a young team," said head coach Glenn White. "Her intense work ethic has been the key to her enhancing and maximizing her game. I'm very proud of her. I envision Misty becoming one of the top bowlers in the country if she continues to work to be the best that she can be."
Selection to the all-conference bowling team is based on averages from league regular season matches that span from the fall 2006 to the winter 2007.
