The 27th annual Teacher's Education Career Fair was held Wednesday, April 11, in the Memorial Student Center ballroom.

The event was sponsored by the college of education and had over 131 participating school districts.

"The purpose of this career fair is for students to learn about their career finances, expectations, and what to look for in post-graduation," stated Dr. Martha Bailey, job fair coordinator.

Bailey advised student teachers to bring a professional portfolio, resume and examples of lesson plans to the job fair.

Tirika Caldwell, senior education major said, "the fair is so helpful because the school districts let you know what they want in a hire and give out valuable information that you cannot receive on campus."

According to Bailey, there is a 70 percent chance that a student will be given an interview. In some instances students may even be hired on the spot while attending the career fair.

Sonya Pintor, senior interdisciplinary studies major, benefited from the career fair by, "receiving the opportunity to have an interview with one of the school districts I was interested in. All I did was bring my resume and reference letters."

Daniel Anderson, junior human performance major said, " The career fair serves as a great tool for seniors and juniors to get their feet wet and learn about opportunities that are available in this field."
