Death – the word sends chills down your spine. No one wants to think or talk about it; sometimes we even act like it doesn’t exist. Death is inevitable. We are all going to die. Somehow, somewhere, someday, sometime, we will die. We will take our last breath. On that judgment day, we will face the decision we made for our eternal life. Dying is hard to imagine, thankfully preparing for it isn’t.
I was saved at 8 years old. I made the decision to trust God with my life and spend eternity with him in his glorious kingdom. It wasn’t until two to three years ago that I truly understood my salvation and began living for the Lord. My life changed when I was 8, but now my heart, my soul and my every breath is in the Lord! My life is in God’s hands. He knows and leads every step that I take, and I trust him. I know without a doubt when my time comes, I will be flying with angels and walking with Jesus on those beautiful golden streets. It could be today. It could be tomorrow. It could be years from now. I may not know when or how, but thankfully I trust in God. I know he will take care of me.
We will never know when God will decide to take us from this world. We don’t know when he will call us home. Will God call you home? Or are your days in eternity questionable? My hope and my prayer for you is that today is the day you think about death. Think long and hard about the day you pass from this world . more importantly, think about what will happen to you next. By then, it will be too late. That is why we must prepare now, today! Don’t take your life for granted. Appreciate every moment you have. Be thankful. Love. Trust. Smile. Laugh. Thank God everyday for the breath of life.
It can happen at any age, anytime. In your bed, driving to lunch, cooking dinner … anywhere. When was the last time you visited your parents? What was the last thing you said to your spouse? Was the last word out of your mouth something you want to be remembered by? Every second is a second we are blessed with.
Are you headed for a glorious heaven or a terrifying hell? Are you happy with the decisions you’ve made in life? If today were your last day on earth, would you change the way you lived? Would you change the way you treated people? Would you change your decision about Jesus?
0Death is not an easy subject, but we all face it. Don’t face it alone. Allow God to be in control. Hand it all over to him. Let him call you home to heaven someday. Appreciate every breath you take. Tell someone you love them. Tell someone you’re sorry. Be ready at anytime. Death happens. It’s just a breath away. anytime.
