An hour on myspace, two hours on facebook, several hours in the gym or even three days planning out your Thursday night; yet you still say you do not have time to talk to God?
We have so many opportunities throughout the day to simply bow our heads; however, we choose to wrap ourselves up in the unimportant things of life. What would your friends think if they saw you bow your head and talk to God? Would they laugh and make fun of you? In all reality their reaction would probably surprise you. They would more than likely allow you that quite minute and respect you in your time with God. They might not say another word about it. Just by seeing your obedience to God could touch their heart. Maybe you could be that light in their life that they have needed so badly. Maybe it could open the door for you to witness to them!
We all have needs and worries in our lives that are out of our control. Family members who may be sick, relationship problems that may weigh heavy on our hearts, school concerns that consume us or even burdens we simply can not carry anymore! Some things we can not change on our own. But we can always put our faith in God and lean on him. Just simply bow your head, close your eyes and be consumed in that moment with him. Thank him for the many blessings he has allowed in your life.
Take advantage of every second of the day that you could give to God, walking from your miles-away parking spot, wasting that inconvenient time between classes, driving to Pal’s for the dinner you were too tired to cook, or even laying your head to rest at night. God is waiting to hear from you. He knows your needs, but you have to take the time and ask him for his comfort. Even when you feel that you have no one to listen to you, he is there! He is there with arms wide open waiting for you to call on him.
When we are obedient to God and give him the glory for things in our lives, we are blessed. He blesses us with each beautiful day we are a part of. He blesses us with the calm rush of the wind. He blesses us with the opportunity for a college education! He blesses us in so many aspects of our lives. But how much time do we give back to him?
I want to thank my creator, my savior, each time I have the opportunity. I know he hears my words and I know he smiles down on me. I ask you today, from one faithful college student to the next, to bow your head in a quiet moment with God. Be quiet, be still, and be faithful. Forget the concerns you have of what your friends will think. Why waste the next five seconds? Thank him, praise him, and lift his holy name! Go ahead, have a quiet moment with God.
