I started to think about the new semester. For many, this semester would be their first, and yet for others it would be their last. Some students are adjusting to college life and being away from home, while others are preparing for graduation and starting their long-awaited careers. I questioned the emotions students have.
As a senior, I can easily accumulate a list of emotions that this semester brings for me. I am happy, excited, nervous, fearful, anxious, relieved, hopeful and blessed! It is amazing to finally see the light at the end of the tunnel, but at the same time I am nervous about starting a new life. These emotions are normal, but it is how we deal with them that define us.
Do you deal with these emotions at PR’s or choose to hand your worries over to God? Being a Christian college student is not easy. There is so much pressure to drink, cuss, stay out all night and skip class; however there is not much talk about God and his glory, church, the Bible, or living a Christian life.
I am a proud born-again Christian who puts my complete undying faith in the Lord. I am not ashamed to admit that I put my cares in his hands. I think it is important that we stand up for what we believe in and witness to others about God’s grace.
This semester could be a chance for you to re-evaluate your habits and choose to lean on God. Think back to this past week. How often did you hear news about a party? And how often did you hear news about the Lord? Which did you choose?
We all have worries as we begin yet another semester. I want you to know that you are not alone in your struggles. God is always there listening to you, protecting you and comforting you throughout your hectic days. I ask you to simply use this semester as another chance: a chance to glorify the Lord in all his beauty. This is your chance to hand over your worries to the one who can handle them, to witness to others about his undying love for us. Another semester, another chance!
