The Thanksgiving holiday is approaching quickly and our hearts and minds are filled with excitement for our holiday traditions.
The recent snowfall has put us even more into the holiday spirit. Most of us are excited about eating Thanksgiving dinner with our families, possibly putting up our Christmas trees, and beginning our holiday shopping.
While these things are important to us all during the holiday season, they simply are not what we should be primarily focused on.
For me the holidays are my favorite time of year. I look so forward to the decorations, the snow, and spending time with my family.
I enjoy the time away from school, work and my busy schedule, and try to focus on what is truly important to me.
Year round, I am grateful for God’s blessings in my life, but the holiday season is a special time when I realize just how blessed I am.
I thank God for all he has done for me.
While you sit down with your family this Thanksgiving just take a look at what is all around you. Slow down and enjoy a moment to take in all the beautiful things God has blessed you with.
Be thankful for the food on the table, the roof over your head, the clothes on your back, your family and the holiday cheer all around. Also be thankful for God’s gracious love and your eternal salvation.
Don’t forget to say a special prayer for our troops that are away from home and their families.
Sometimes we get so caught up in how long the turkey’s been cooking and trying to untangle Christmas lights that we forget to actually enjoy the holidays and there true meaning!
However, being grateful is also more than just seeing it. This holiday season be sure to tell your family you love them and that you’re thankful for what they do for you.
Thank God for all the blessings he has put into your life. Remember this verse, Philippians 4:6, “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”
The word magnify comes to my mind when I think about Thanksgiving.
I think it depicts exactly what we should be doing this season. We should do nothing but magnify God’s name.
We should also magnify the things we are thankful for. Psalm 69:30, “I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.”
This Thanksgiving take time to realize its true meaning.
Take the time to thank God for all he has done in your life. Relax, enjoy, thank God and be thankful . this Thanksgiving be grateful!!
