Farewell, so long
When I first came to the Hill, I looked around and felt a sense of greatness around me. Immediately, I knew that this place was for me. I knew Prairie View had chosen me.
While attempting to navigate my way through finding my passion and self, I re-discovered my love for writing. It was then that I began to contribute to The Panther.
I can honestly say that for the past two years THIS newspaper has truly become a part of me.
I am so grateful for being given the opportunity to serve my university in a capacity that has the ability to shape perceptions and change opinions. It has truly been an amazing experience.
Prior to beginning my last semester at the illustrious Prairie View A&M University, I promised myself that my last would be my best.
I told myself that the growth and changes that I had made over the summer would not be for nothing.
I can remember eagerly walking into the "kitchen" of the Student Engagement Office the Friday before school started. It was there that I was FINALLY informed that I was the Editor-in-Chief of The Panther for the remainder of this year.
Personally, my collegiate career has challenged me academically, physically, and mentally. My journey has been jam packed with so many ups and downs.
I have experienced loneliness, depression, and loss. But, I have experienced friendship, love, and joy. I have grown, matured, and evolved. I have also met and maintained several relationships that I plan to nourish for the rest of my life.
Looking back, I would have never thought that I would end up here. I am now a woman....a confident woman who realizes her potential and can now see the purpose God bathed me in.
I am thankful that God has strategically placed people in my life that He knew I would need.
Thank you Melani, Jimmy, Danille, La'Quenshia, and Taylor. You all are my backbone and I love you dearly.
I am so grateful for the advisors who have helped instruct and guide me. Yeah, that's you Orok Twice, Mr. Smith, Ms. Leach, Ms. Porter, and Ms. Gibson.
I would also like to thank God for my Panther family.
And to my babies that I have watched grow....
Andre', Dorothy, Anthony, Jazzi B, Joshy, Pierre, Shammy-kins and my new CAB family.
I hope that I have left a legacy for future Panther Staff members and proud Panthers to come. I really love you guys.
I bleed purple and gold. I always will.
