Hazing affects members of the Marching Storm

Hazing has been a buzz around the campus of Prairie View A&M University for some time. Recently, the Marching Storm has been suspected of hazing. Many students have heard rumors about the suspected hazing in the percussion section of the Marching Storm. However, most are not privy to evidence that was actually found.
Members of the Marching Storm are sharing their views about how hazing has affected them and their beliefs about the disciplinary action that has taken place for members of the percussion section.
Band members claim that an altercation between two band members is the "hazing" the administration board collectively identified, but in actuality it was not hazing.
Senior social work major Qwynetta Foster firmly stands by the non-hazing contract she signed before entering band camp, stating she will not engage in or be a victim of hazing.
Foster said, "There might have been an altercation or a disagreement, but no one was hazing. All band members know if any hazing was going on, our band could be gone forever."
Junior music major Jakeithan Green said, "All black bands, including Prairie View, are under watch especially since the incident at Florida A&M University. Our band has been a victim of hazing in the past, but that is over now. When the report was filed, I think the administration should have had substantial evidence of hazing before the suspension actually happened."
There are strict zero tolerance rules for any actions that could be considered hazing.
"Prairie View has a no tolerance rule for both hazing and for fighting. You can get expelled for fighting. It would be better to be suspended for fighting than to be expelled," said senior music and sociology major Michael Trahe. "It's amazing how the university tries to control one of its main breadwinning sources. The reason I say this is because if you look at the history books, the football team is doing what it usually does, losing. If you look at the band, it is still maintaining a level of greatness. I'm not going to lie, a lot of that comes from hazing," said Trahe.
Texas Southern University's marching band, the Ocean of Soul, has also been affected by suspicions of hazing. As a result, the administrators have decided to suspend the band indefinitely.
Foster has a different view about how TSU administrators handled the situation. "I believe only the band members that are involved in actual hazing should be held responsible for their actions. I don't think it's fair for the band to be taken away from all band members for a select few."
