A final Panther farewell
As my time at Prairie View draws to a close, I take this time to reflect on my days on the hill.
Coming in as a freshman from the south side of the Chicago, I had many different feelings as I entered college in the fall of 2008. What type of people I would meet, would I be able to keep with the college curriculum, and would I be home sick?
Luckily I was placed in what I will always believe was the best freshman building, 48. I was immediately welcomed and many of many building mates I still consider brothers to this day.
God has blessed me to be able to do well here at the university. The chief person that I attribute all of my accomplishments here is my beautiful mother. Through my highs and my lows she has been there for me, and I could not be more proud, or more grateful to have someone in my life than her.
As I leave the Hill, there are some people I would like tell how much I appreciate them for all they have done for me during my time at Prairie View. First to my Panther family: Scheane', BriAna, Vesma, Amanda, Pierre, D'Ann, André, Anthony, Troyla, Jackie, Ryan, and J.O., thank you for all laughs and good times we have shared in my two years with newspaper. You all have been a major part of my college days, and even though every Tuesday was an adventure, I would not have chose a different group to spend it with.
To my Crew brethren, thank you for always being in my corner, through the good and the bad. You all know who you can call when things go down.
To my 15 brothers and sisters who I made my sophomore year. Although we weren't able to finish the race, I'm glad I was able to hold the baton with you. Most have gone, but some are still here, and for those who are, know we are family and I will always remember the times what we had together.
To my brother Melvin, or Kimbo Slice, you were my roommate for two years of my life, and we have been super tight since freshman year. And even though I thought you were one of the community assistants freshman year when we moved in, there is nobody I would rather have in my corner during a bar fight than you.
Smallz, Doug, and Gabe. I don't even have the words. We set out to accomplish something great, and we have. We are on the verge of history. Whenever any of you need me, never hesitate. Special thanks to Doug for this past summer, YOLO!
Last, but certainly not least to the rest of my Prairie View family, everyone I have ever met at this beautiful university, I would like take this opportunity to personally thank each and every one of you. Every person who I have come in contact with at this university has affected my life and I am extremely grateful for all the lessons you have given me.
So this is my salutation to any Panther reading this. I want you to know you can do anything that you want to do, not only on this campus but also in this world. If you want something to happen, MAKE IT HAPPEN! No one holds the keys to your success or demise but you. Be aggressive in the things that you want, and do not accept the word: no.
And as we all know, as students at this university we will have our good days and our bad days, but believe me when I say if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere. As we always say PV, You Know, because only we here at this university know what we go through, and we can look at someone who came and went from this university and know that they are made of something special.
So as I say goodbye, know I love this university, I'm proud of the person this university has help me become, and through the good and the bad, I feel like I made the absolute best choice I could have by coming to the Hill. So, goodbye, good luck, and from now until the end, PV, YOU KNOW!
