My Merlin ends in emotion
The third and final book in the My Merlin series, Ever My Merlin, proved to be the most emotional of the three.
This book answers the questions that have been plaguing the reader since the beginning: Is Ryan meant for Matt or Vane? Whose feelings are stronger? Is Ryan in love? Can Vane tame the beast that lives in him or will he ever be the person Ryan knew again? Is Matt even strong enough for Ryan?
Will Ryan actually make a decision?
Finally accepting her fate as the sword-bearer, Arriane DuLac becomes incredibly decisive causing the most powerful wizard in the world Merlin to lose his powers to none other than his aggressive brother Vivane. Now she second guesses every decision she is forced to make in the next month.
Although everyone knows the world is about to end, Ryan seems quite caught up in herself in this novel. The impending doom does not keep Ryan's attention long enough for her to stop wandering around Europe as if she is a tourist.
Ryan's woe-is-me moments become annoying as she is constantly feeling sorry for herself. Ryan does not seem to care that the world around her is crumbling and she is the key to putting it back together.
Overall, Ryan becomes conceited and self-absorbed, i.e. a typical teenager. At the peak of the end, who could possibly be thinking about who will be taking her to prom?
As natural disasters become more frequent, who could possibly be worried about finishing high school?
Matt and Vane continue to fight for Ryan until the very end, everyone is searching for the solution to the end of the world, and Gia takes her place beside the new gargoyle king Grey.
Ryan saves the world, as she is supposed to, and gets her man. But you have to wait until the end to find out who that is.
