Ryan Gesiakowski sums it all up
Born and raised in Albuquerque, N.M., senior Ryan Gesiakowski faces hopeful dreams extending into the NBA, that will undoubtedly turn into a future full of success.
Positioned as a shooting and point guard for the Prairie View A&M University men's basketball team, one would think that Gesiakowski would be sustained under a great amount of masked pressure at every game and practice.
Surprisingly, he is very level headed, down to earth and humble about his achievements.
"I push myself for all the coaches and mentors that told me I was worth something and helped me along the way mentally and financially," said Gesiakowski.
He thinks that it would be great to help better your own financial situation, while being able to make money doing something you love.
His happiness depends on four simple things: God, family, friends, and basketball.
At 18 years old, he began to carry the burden of his future on his own back through his love for basketball.
His passion for basketball sparked in middle school.
"I have been in love with the courts since then. Not becoming the best I can be and reaching my full potential is my biggest fear," he said.
As the men's basketball team prepares for the SWAC conference in a couple weeks, blood sweat and tears are being spilled on the courts.
"I think our team has a very good chance of winning SWAC. If we do not win it would be a huge underachievement and disappointment," said Gesiakowski.
Although the team is depending on him to lead them to the most desired championship, their faith seemed very subtle.
"He is a really good team player. He has the ability to blend in, listen, and understand what he needs to do on the floor. He is a smart guy," said Coach Washington.
His teammate Jimmie Duplessis added, "He always pushes himself to the limit on and off the court."
Wesley Afolayan also said, "He is a really great guy and very hard worker."
Hopefully the SWAC Championship will become another successful memory of Ryan Gesiakowski's lifetime fufillments.
