Fast start ends poorly in Panther loss

Starting out on fire the Prairie View A&M University Panthers suffered a disappointing loss to the Jackson State Tigers at the Mississippi Veteran Memorial Stadium, their third consecutive SWAC game for the season.
 Prairie View's first quarter performance was fast paced and the team dominated scoring on a four-play touchdown, ending with an eight yard run by sophomore Courtney Brown. Panthers defense suppressed the Tigers the entire first half ending it with a score of 10-0.
Prairie View ended the game with 12 first downs compared to Jackson States' 21.
The second half did not end as well for the Panthers in scoring. Jackson State came back in the third quarter surpassing Prairie View 13-10 with 5:32 left on the clock.
Prairie View answered back with a 32 yard field goal by sophomore Christopher Barrick to even out the score 13 tight. The third quarter unfortunately went to Jackson State scoring off a fumble recovery with 0:27 left on the clock ending it in their favor 20-13.
Relentless with their game plan Jackson State scored in the first two minutes of the fourth quarter, which was a 10-yard run giving them a further lead.
Junior Jerry Lovelocke came out with 148 passing yards in the game with a 27-12 completion and 4 sacks.
Jackson State dominated the second half of the game not letting the Prairie View Panthers get anything more than a field goal to end the game, 34-13.
Jackson State is currently tied for third in SWAC with Arkansas-Pine Bluff while Prairie View stands in last place with Grambling State University.
The Panthers will have a chance to end their drought this weekend at the Cotton Bowl against the Grambling State Tigers in Dallas, Texas.
