Passion or Ignorance?
This past weekend, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant was shown to be a little irate after a gruesome 31-30 loss to the Detroit Lions.
The Cowboys had a 99 percent chance of winning the game being up 30-24 with a minute left. Once the Lions scored to take the lead with 12 seconds left, you could see a furious Dez Bryant on the Cowboys' bench.
This is not the first time that Bryant has displayed such attitude to fans. Back in 2012, Bryant was accused of hitting his mother, but later she dropped the charges. During the 2012 season you could see him arguing with teammates throughout the games.
So what was different about this outburst than the other ones? Was it because of his past? Was it because he targeted his quarterback and tight end?
Some fans say that he is ignorant and being outrageous. Other people are saying that he is just showing passion for the game of football. So will he be ridiculed for the rest of his career as a football player having a bad attitude?
In recent games Tom Brady has been seen fussing and cursing at other players. So why was Bryant outburst looked at in a negative way?
Several Prairie View A&M players say that Bryant's outburst can be perceived in different ways. Defensive end Adrian Middleton says, the way he conducted himself is what put him in the media this week.
"If Bryant would not have acted so dramatic, it would have been a different story. Yes, he's showing passion for the game; however his actions seemed a little excessive."
The media have portrayed Bryant this week as an ignorant football player who demanded the ball from his quarterback. But the footage actually showed that Bryant was just pumping up his quarterback by saying, "We are the best in the NFL at this."
Another Panther, Raheem Cardwell, who plays linebacker says that he fully understands the Bryant situation and that it was just passion.
"As a football player I know where Dez is coming from. He's showing passion for the game and he just wants to win."
So the question still remains: is Dez showing passion or just being ignorant? The video paints a different picture of the star receiver, but no matter what, fans will each have their own perception of him.
