Motivations of Mercy: Letter to a Dear Friend
" I LOVE YOU SO MUCH! I loved you the first night I spoke to you. That night I experienced a modicum of what it was like to love through the heart of Christ. This love was and still is so pure and unwavering. This love is not dependent on the things you do or the things you say. It is not predicated on your past or your future, but its sole reason for existing is because your soul exists. Your soul was created by God. Your life was ordained by God and salvaged by His Son. He gave you a purpose so mighty that the devil can't stand it! You are fighting a war that was waged long before you were even conceived. There's a saying that, "Everybody got demons." Only a few of us ever realize that long after our ancestors left this earth, there was a great probability that we would continue their battles. I know you have often wondered why you have suffered so, but I need you to trust and believe that God is on your side. He has never left you. You just have to walk with Him - not in the opposite direction. ~SURRENDER~...Keep fighting. You are so strong. Your eyes have seen so much but I pray that your heart will behold Christ in all His fullness and glory. Taste and see that He really is good and that He has never forgotten about you... My great love for you is only a mere morsel of His undying love and passion for you."
I posted the words above on my personal blog this past summer. I was a heavily concerned about my friend. We will call him JR for the sake of this column. He was a person that most people would deem unworthy of anything. That might sound harsh, but we live in a world that grows impatient and readily dismisses those that aren't considered an asset to our society or personal well-being.
At first glance, JR was a loud and socially-unaware vulgarian. Most people assumed that he was stupid and void of understanding. On the contrary, he was one of the most brilliant minds that I've ever encountered. JR was a survivor. He overcame homelessness several times. His upbringing was polluted by drug use and domestic violence. On top of it all, he was constantly labeled a misfit by society. I created that post to express how much I cared for him and how accepted he was by God.
We can all relate to JR. Like all of humanity, he was imperfect. We all go through things. We've all been labeled, abused, insecure, and hurt. But the same love that God has for JR, He has for you. The way God allowed me to see JR, is the same way he will allow you to see yourself. I dedicate that blog post to all of you. Know that you are loved. Understand that you are worthy. Receive that you were created with purpose.
Biblical References:
Psalms 139: 13-14 "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
