Cj Miller is CEO of Ball-N-Chain Ent.
Carl Miller is a chemical engineering major at Prairie View, but you would never guess that he is the CEO of his own entertainment label. "Most people are shocked when I tell them that I'm a CEO, because I'm really laid back and reserved, but my love for music brings a different side of my personality," said Miller.
Miller was born and raised in Houston, Texas, with two sisters and one brother and comes from a musical background. His father was a hip hop dancer for many years and his mother sang gospel music, so the development of his label did not come to them as a surprise. "While growing up music was always apparent in my household, so my parents fully support what I do, and I'm very appreciative."
Miller is in his fourth year as a chemical engineering major, but also minors in business and has his certification in entrepreneurship. "I chose chemical engineering because I enjoy working with numbers and the combination of chemistry challenges me. Income level is also a big factor."
As a freshman, Miller began promoting various parties and he used that as a gateway to create his label called Ball-N-Chain Entertainment. He met a fellow student named Janks Banks and they combined their love for music and began working closely with each other as business partners.
The growing success of Miller's label reached groundbreaking momentum when he hosted a party called the SWAC Attack where he met rapper Beat King. He became the official promoter for Beat King and the connection brought many artists, models, and DJs interested in Ball-N-Chain Ent., which is now linked to Beat King's label called C3 Ent.
Miller manages a singer named Mesha who has recently been played on 97.9 The Box radio in Houston. The name of her new single is called "Only one" featuring rapper A-1.
Miller will graduate in May 2012 and plans to work for an engineering firm in Houston while continuing to pursue his musical endeavors. "If the success of my music label continues, I might actually consider making music full time." You can keep up with Miller's progress and follow him @ceocjmiller on twitter and facebook.com/cj.miller.
