Gone Again?
Slow yearbook sales threaten reproduction
Throughout the course of each semester we record the best of memories, through pictures, highlights, and quotes from fellow Prairie View A & M students, and bring such commemoration together to produce our yearbook.
Unfortunately, for this 2011-12 school year, there is no assurance that the Pantherland Yearbook will return and be released in the spring.
After speaking with the yearbook advisor, Orok Orok, it is understood that yearbook sells from the 2010-11 school year were not quite over the top.
Due to such mediocre results, the yearbook is threatened to be discontinued. A final decision will be made in October, stating whether the yearbook will return.
This decision will be based upon the support and dedication received from students and faculty up until this time.
Orok Orok, advisor for Pantherland Yearbook said, "If the yearbook returns, there is a possibility it won't be a full book. It may return as smaller version, or even in magazine form."
Some argue that the publication of the yearbook is of much significance to the recognition of our campus.
Others say there should be a certain pride in producing memories of events that have had a major impact on the Prairie View college experience. Even though the experience is no longer present, the memory is yours to keep.
Bringing awareness to the students about the benefits of the Pantherland Yearbook is highly encouraged, especially at this daring time of possibility.
From being apart of the yearbook staff, to being one of the first 50 purchasers to receive a bonus DVD, all information, ideas, and assistance are welcomed.
The restoration of our yearbook is currently in the best interest of our students and faculty. Hopefully, such reinforcement and enlightenment will be the motivating force behind the return of the Pantherland Yearbook.
