  • There’s a first time for everything. Correa and the Prairie View Student Nursing Association are ready to make history in more ways than one.

In Prairie View, Texas, students, faculty and staff are ready with creative content and will begin programming for PV Media Channel 55 TV Station on Friday.
Since the revamping of the television station last spring semester, students are taking ownership in developing show ideas and the filming process.
One of the returning shows currently in production is P.S. It's Sports. It is a sports analysis show hosted by Cameron Thomas, Sequoia Hood, and Ramon Williams. They cover different sports topics, ranging from the college level to the pro leagues.
"We would really like to bring you what's happening in the world of sports in a very interesting way. It's a debate style show, but we have a lot of fun," says Thomas.
Last Tuesday, the camera operators, crew, and talent were present for the latest segment of P.S. It's Sports. The three hosts shared their views on recent college football games from Prairie View to Texas A&M. They discussed the Mayweather vs. Alvarez fight and also week 2 score results from their favorite NFL teams.
Another show that is coming back in full effect is Student Legal, which is a crime-drama fictional series inspired by Law & Order. Roger Thomas III, the creator, director, and writer, shared his ultimate goals for the show. "I would want the audience to take pride about their school and show how beautiful Prairie View is," he said.
A newly developed show titled Who's Hungry will be making its debut to PV Media Channel 55 this semester.
Tierra Chapman, a junior mass communications major, was inspired in creating her own cooking show to help out students in making meals on their own and to avoid spending money on fast foods. "I want people to see that every meal that mama makes is not difficult. It is possible, affordable, and it will save you a lot of money," said Chapman.
Michael West, the co-station manager for PV Media Channel 55, shared his high hopes for certain show ideas. "I think it would be really interesting to see Prairie View students do something like a variety show or a game show. It would be interesting to have a dating show as well," said West.
He also expressed his goals and expectations for PV Media. "My goal for the station is that it will be a business like atmosphere and possibly mimic a real television station like Channel 39. My expectation is that the students who come in are willing to learn, participate, and gain more experience," said West.
