Homecoming concert show does not disappoint, numbers do
Jordan Michael Houston, better known by his stage name Juicy J, performed live as the main event Oct. 19 at Willy J. Nicks Sports Complex, during homecoming along with Shanell and Elle Varner.
The concert started off with Shanell, a representative from Young Money, who used her own band to awake the crowd. Not only did she rock the house with her vocals, but also with her exotic dancing.
She was followed by Elle Varner, who intoxicated her admirers with not only her beauty but her stage presence as well.
As the crowed engaged her with enthusiasm, she performed her hit song "Refill'' and left the arena energized.
Even though the stadium was empty, the show still was a success as spectators witnessed history.
Tiffany Ross, senior double major in computer and electrical engineering, said, "I really enjoyed it. I didn't care too much for Juicy J, but I thought Elle Varner was amazing. I've always been a fan of hers. I enjoyed it when she performed Refill and her new material."
Nierra Griffie, sophomore architect major, said, "It wasn't what I expected, the house was empty. I never cared for Elle Varner, but her live performance of Refill changed my opinion of her as an artist. I expected Juicy J to energize the crowd more, but Elle Varner was my favorite performance of the night."
Finally as the main personality Juicy J, took the stage, he pumped up the crowed, rapping songs from his newest album "Stay Trippy" such as Bounce It and Bandz Maker her Dance.
Hitting the crowd with old flashbacks from 3 Six Mafia, it was clear that the best was saved for last.
Interacting with fans not only on stage but off stage made the experience a once in a lifetime for students at Prairie View A&M University.
Meah Madbox said, "I didn't go because I'm not a Juicy J fan. The concert doesn't flow the way I want it to go. There are long pauses between acts and other homecoming events are going on during this time."
But wrong or right fans still attended to watch their favorite performers. Some in the audience twerked, cheered, and chanted lyrics.
