Bowling team wraps up SWAC competition
The Lady Panthers bowling team completed their conference schedule this weekend in Jackson, Miss. at the East Round-Up with an overall 6 win-6 loss record and a 3 win-4 loss record against Western division opponents and finished fourth.
"Overall I believe we didn't reach our full potential as a team. We should have been stronger and more competitive this year," said sophomore social work major and returning member Kristina Sadler.
The Lady Panthers did however, bring home some big wins against Jackson State, winning 922 pins to 887 pins and reigning SWAC Champions Southern University 920 pins to 887 pins where freshman LeJewelia Lewis led the game ending with a 245 game total. Lewis also led the Lady Panthers in the tournament having played five games with over 200 pins.
"LeJewelia has continued to improve her game and I look for her to become one of the top bowlers in the conference," said Head Coach Glenn White.
The Lady Panthers also defeated Alabama State and Mississippi Valley during the round-up. The Panthers finished with an overall SWAC record of 13-12 and 5-7 in their Western Division.
"We obviously missed the goal of going to the SWAC championship but this year has been a learning experience on how to become a better team overall," said Lewis.
The Lady Panthers will continue to bowl matches despite wrapping up SWAC. They will be featured in a NCAA competition this coming weekend at the Louisiana Tech Invitational in Ruston, La. and also have upcoming matches against Texas Southern University and the University of Houston.

"We're going to continue to practice hard and end the season on a good note," Lewis said.
