Beware of alcoholism
Alcohol consumption has been shown to be an ongoing problem when referring to college students
Excessive drinking is dangerous and in the long run can cause the body severe damage. Refraining from drinking or occasionally drinking is preferred.
Drinking is going to happen, but the real problem occurs when you abuse your limit.
Alcohol consumption affects your brain by causing blackouts, memory lapses, and kills brain cells neccessary for our bodies to function properly. There are many risks such as birth defects for your children, liver problems, heart disease, injuries and even death that become possibilties just by pouring a drink.
Underage drinking is also an issue when referring to alcoholism. Not only is it illegal but it is also a problem because it is said that the body isn't fully developed until the age of 21. This means you can harm your body during its maturing phase and also underage drinking paves the way for problems with your lungs, brain and other critical areas.
Everyone has heard and some have even ignored the warning "don't drink and drive". Well here are some reasons that this warning should be taken more seriously: Drinking reduces your energy level, makes your reaction time slower, and affects your vision. Meaning if a car swerves in front of you while you're intoxicated your reaction times is slower so it would be more difficult to get out the way. And who do you think will be blamed for the accident the man who accidentally swerved in the street or the drunk driver who was too intoxicated to get out the way?
Drinking sets people up for negative situations and may even lead to someone doing something they might regret. Drinking gives people false confidence and might lead to an individual being bolder but it also clouds your mind. A good way to stay sober is to offer to be the designated driver because if your friends value their lives they will make sure you don't drink but if they don't then you are probably hanging with the wrong people.
This is an issue that we need to address as a unit. By putting the bottle down you can be an example to others and encourage them to take a step away from alcoholism. The effects of drinking are real and although they might not hit now they will hit eventually so put down the drink before it's too late.
