Houston honors Bun B
Rapper Bernard Freeman, better known as Bun B, elevated Houston's hip-hop scene toward new possibilities Aug. 30, as Mayor Annise Parker declared the first Bun B Day.
The 38-year-old Port Arthur native was recognized for his various acts throughout the Houston community during a ceremony at Houston's City Hall.
In an interview with Fox Houston, Bun B said, "Today is a very big day for myself, the Houston hip hop community and I think for everyone who cares about their fellow man."
Bun B is opening new doorways, and setting stone footprints throughout the community. He also has the title of a college lecturer by volunteering at Rice University teaching religion and
hip hop courses.
Bun B will be very busy this fall, as he hits the stage very soon at Houston's "Best Fest" Sept. 24-25, while preparing him- self to help teach at Rice for the upcoming semester.
