The wait: Am I awarded or not?

My alarm was set for 3:30 a.m., my goal was to arrive at 4 a.m. on the dot. I grabbed my comforter, breakfast, coffee, and phone charger, the doors did not open until 8:00; however, I wanted to be first in line.
It sounds like I am gearing up to wait in line for an incredible Black Friday deal or tickets to a quickly sold out concert; yet, instead I am waiting outside the Baby Dome to be signed into Financial Aid.
What is wrong with this picture? I know people tend to say "Students waited until the last minute;" but I did not.
I was in the financial aid office almost every day during summer school. I did my part-filled out my FASFA on time, turned in paperwork, etc-but why was I still in fear of being dropped?
By 5 a.m., the line began to form around the Baby Dome, curving around on the sidewalk and as 6'oclock approached I did not even bother looking because it was farther than I could see.
So people mean to tell me ALL of these students procrastinated?
The answer is no.
So when do the faculty and staff actually begin to take responsibility for the problem?
And, yes, I am aware of budget cuts and things of that sort due to the economy; however, companies across the nation have taken the same kind of hits and somehow manage to continue doing their jobs effectively.
Why can we not do the same? Why are we in the second week of school and a considerable amount of the student body -myself included-have yet to be fully awarded?
If the financial aid office took their phones off silent or answered emails there would be less problems.
No one can say, that as a whole the student body does not care about their education, even if they only attend that class for the first couple of weeks-they want to be in that class.
I love Prairie View A&M University. I dare say I "bleed" purple and gold, but some things have to change.
I am glad things are being done to improve our campus, but could we improve the systems and processes that are an actual necessity to the student body?
I am by no means presenting the problem without a solution. This solution seems logical. Bring back PV Live.
The ability to contact a representative 24/7 was ingenious.
This is just the first step.
There needs to be more than six people who work in the back, but if budget will not allow for this, come up with a system where they can work effectively and in a timely manner with the manpower they do have.
