SWAC conference takes shape
As the 2012 SWAC football season reaches the midway point, each team's chances at a post-season birth is becoming clearer.
The Prairie View Panthers have yet to win a game, and their chances of a SWAC championship birth are fading with every loss.
The saving grace for their season is there is no one running away with the western division. Each team on the Panthers' side of the SWAC conference has lost at least one game in conference, leaving the field open until someone takes charge.
The Panthers can't afford to fall any further behind, as time is running out to regain ground in the standings. One more conference loss could be the difference between the Panthers keeping their SWAC Championship chances alive, and closing the door on this season for good.
The eastern division is not as wide open as the west.
Alabama A&M University is looking the best early in the season as they have yet to lose a game, and are leading the eastern division of the SWAC to this point.
As time winds down, if each team continues to play the way they have in the early season, Alabama A&M vs. the University of Pine-Bluff in the SWAC championship.
None of the teams have completely written themselves out of the championship picture, but several teams are on the brink.
This weekend will play a major part in determining which teams will have a chance at playing for the SWAC championship.
