Panther redeem loss against Tigers
In a competitive match the Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers defended their home court winning a 3-1 match against the Texas Southern Lady Tigers in the William J Nicks Building.
The Lady Panthers and the Lady Tigers went tit for tat the entire game. There were six tie scores in the game.
Senior right side hitter and setter Breanna McNeil topped the game off with 25 kills, leading in kills for the season.
The Lady Panthers won the first set 25-21 going back and forth with the Lady Tigers.
Junior setter Monecia Preston and sophomore defensive specialist LaKeisha Allen together led in defensive digs sharing 14 a piece hustling to the floor.
Hard work paid off in the second set with only five errors. The Lady Panthers had their hugest gap in the game beating Texas Southern 25-17 with 26 attacks.
Senior Breanna McNeil led in attacks and collecting 47 capitalizing on the Lady Tigers mistakes.
Texas Southern put the third set in their favor winning 25-22 collecting 13 kills to the Lady Panther's nine.
The fourth set did not have the same fate for the Lady Tigers, the Lady Panthers picked up their defensive slack going back and forth with Texas Southern.
Sophomore outside hitter Charae Caldwell ran into zone four with the spike to give the lady Panthers the game.
Head coach Alicia Pete said, "Our ladies played well and learned to finish which is usually a difficult task when playing Texas Southern and for the mistakes made in the game we are going to work on our blocking skills which were a little off."
The Lady Panthers are currently first in the SWAC conference standings with a 4-1 conference record.
Their next game will be played in the William J Nicks Building "Baby Dome" against Southwestern Christian College Oct. 22 support the Lady Panthers to another win.
