Motivations of Mercy: Putting yourself to the side blesses you

"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others." (Philippians 2:3-4).
It is sometimes difficult for us as people to put others before our personal desires, needs, and emotions. We worry about practical things that seem quite critical to our survival. Our worries are so large that it prevents us from giving sacrificially to others and that just reveals the fact that we don't trust God to be the God that He says He is. We don't trust Him to provide. We don't believe that He will bless us as we bless others. Oh we of little faith!
Too many times, we allow our emotions to rule over us. Our feelings sometimes make us self-revolved. We become so in tune with our emotions that we become insensitive to the world around us. We neglect our assigned duties and often times fail to see the bigger picture. All of us are called for something much greater than ourselves, and if we allow petty matters to prevent us from succeeding and resting in the peace that God has for our lives, then we will never grow to be great enough to experience the greater.
This week I encourage all of you to really look at the bigger picture. Sincerely seek God in every situation. How would He want you to handle things? What brings Him the most glory? Pick your battles. Don't be afraid to turn the other cheek because "blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God." See another's point of view and look for compromise in the most uncompromising situations. GOD WILL BLESS YOU FOR IT. Trust me, God is always present and He will make sure that everything will result in the best possible outcome. Be a team player and watch the pieces come together divinely. Be blessed and prayerful and may God grant you serenity.
