Men's tennis earns number one seed in SWAC East Roundup
The men's tennis team worked its way up to the top seed taking over the Southwestern Athletic Conference East Tennis Roundup and defeating competitors in Montgomery, Ala.
The two-day roundup was held at three different locations on Friday at Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center, Lagoon Park Tennis Center, and O'Conner Tennis Center and Saturday at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center and Lagoon Park Tennis Center.
The first day of competition the Panthers went head to head with Alcorn State splitting the singles competition 4-2. Ronald Chidzikwe, Jonathan Dingle, Jackson Varney, and Craig Wiltz all won their matches.
On the second day of competition Prairie View showed no mercy to Arkansas Pine Bluff, defeating them in every match.
Winning two games by default, all players won their match winning with no lower than a two-point lead.
The Panthers won The doubles competition by default and swept the court with Arkansas winning two games, 8-4 and 8-6, and conquering the series 7-0.
The SWAC tournament will take place April 19-21 at City Park in New Orleans, La. Behind Prairie View, Alcorn State is locked for the No. 2 spot, while Jackson State will be the third seed.
Alabama State will take the No. 4 seed, Arkansas-Pine Bluff will be in the No. 5 and Alabama A&M will enter the tournament seeded sixth.
